Once upon a time, there was nothing but three empty lands. Although these lands were supposed to be connected, the stubborn sea chose to lay in between them. It surrounded the lands from all directions and stretched farther than what a mortal could see. The sea touched the soil of the lands and it became capable of life.
The lands were beautiful and blessed by gods. The first god to come to each of the lands claimed ownership of it, without any knowledge of the other divinities or lands. In the first land, one god took over most of it, while two others claimed isolated areas. The second land was claimed by another god and so was the third by a different divinity.
In the first land, mortals lived close to each other. Traveling was much easier and progression was swift. The land stretched for as long as mortals could thread, big and fertile. The mortals were happy and called the land- Luzon.
In the second land, the mortals were much more divided. Bodies of water swam over the land. Mortals were quick to develop transportation over these bodies. The land was capable of growing vegetation and the seas were full of life. The mortals were happy and called the land- Visayas.
In the third land, the mortals also lived close to each other. It is rich in minerals and is also surrounded by seas full of life. With a rich and fertile land and fruitful seas, the mortals were happy and called the land- Mindanao.
The mortals were happy and so were the gods. The lands quickly became beautiful and captured the eyes of many other divinities and spirits who approached the supreme gods. Soon, five different kingdoms of divinities were formed. Each kingdom took care of its mortals well.
The lands were quickly filled with life and tradition. Men took over hard and straining work while women took care of their homes and raised their young. The youth are taught the way of life by their parents and elders. Mortals have learned and developed skills for agriculture, craft, and fishery.
Rich and full of life- the lands were the most fertile of all. Separated, they were known as Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. United, it was the Philippines- the pearl of the east. Life quickly propagated. Mortals learned the beauty of agriculture and hunting in both the land and the sea. However, the division of the lands brought about the division of gods.
